HERITAGE WORLD CUP 2024

Cohesion, diversity, challenge and good vibes: a review of the HWC International Final
Japan wins the 2024 edition of the International Heritage World Cup Final by a wide margin! Koichiro NARIMATSU and Shinnosuke FURUKAWA fought to the end! Spain takes second place with Alvaro RIGAUD GALVEZ and Ildefonso MARTINEZ SORIANO.
Togo came third with Ayele Honorine DJADJA and Atsou BOTOR.

For the first time, France will not be present on the podium, finishing only in 6th and 15th place.

The Heritage World Cup: the network’s must-attend event, with more than 21 countries taking part.
Heritage World Cup by Villas Valriche organized for the past 8 years by the LeClub Golf network, has established itself each year as the leading amateur competition in France and in 21 partner countries.

They were present: Japan, Spain, Togo, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Reunion, Vietnam, Poland, Mauritius, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Slovakia, Rwanda, Ghana, Italy, Brazil, Tanzania, Benin.

The 21 national teams, represented by 2 players from each country (except for France, which had two teams this year), competed over 54 holes in 3 rounds of competition: two individual (gross + net) and one scramble. At the same time, the guests played the Invitational over 3 individual rounds.
The strength of the Heritage World Cup lies in the mix of cultures represented by the 21 countries present, and the warm welcome and expertise of the teams. Heritage. The welcome drink, the opening evening at the Château de Bel Ombre, the Sunset Cocktail Villas Valriche and the prize-giving evening at the Jin’ga at Heritage le Telfair were real moments of sharing, of communion between players and of discovery of Mauritian culture.

3 days of competition: The new La Réserve course made its mark
A first this year: the competition took place at La Réserve Golf Links, a new course inaugurated last December. The first contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean, La Réserve offers exceptional ocean and mountain views from every hole.

The golf course is located alongside a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Co-designed by Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, La Réserve Golf Links has hosted the DP World Tour 2023 Mauritius Open and now our amateur Heritage World Cup competition.

The HERITAGE experience, breathtaking and refined
For the 4th year running, the International Heritage World Cup Final was held in Mauritius at the Heritage Group. Heritage Golf Club, voted best golf course in the Indian Ocean seven times in a row, and La Réserve Golf Links, inaugurated in December 2023, gave the competitors a tough time.

In total: more than 150 players in the official competition and the INVITATIONAL stayed at the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort.
A heavenly, relaxing setting that proved ideal for the final. The upscale hotel, with its breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean, was a source of escape.
Many thanks to the entire Heritage Resort team, who were extremely kind and gracious throughout the stay, enabling all the players and our team to leave with stars in their eyes.

The Heritage World Cup 2024 experience ended with the traditional “soirée blanche”, during which the official prize-giving ceremony took place at the Heritage le Telfair’s Jin’ga. It was a wonderful evening filled with good cheer, dancing and sharing between all the players.

Focus on selected countries: Interviews!
- France by our finalists: Julien Bourgis, Nicolas Potrel, Louis Le Rohellec and James Mathieu
Day 1 :
How was your first day?
Louis: Very good run, exceptional. We could have done better, but for a 1st part without reco it’s not bad!
Julien : Very good feeling, the weather is correct even if the awakening was short!
James : Great atmosphere! It wasn’t easy, but I still suffered, as the greens are difficult.
Nicolas : Complicated feeling on the greens, almost 3 putts to each green but the course is magnificent, the fairways are perfect.
Out of 10?
Julien : 4/10, difficult start, lots of bad shots.
Nicolas : 6/10, pleasantly surprised.
James : 5/10, I was a bit stressed and had trouble getting into the game.
Louis : 7/10, I played very well but putted very badly, but overall it was pretty decent.
Day 2 by Louis and James
Day 2 feeling:
James : Very fast-paced but great fun, I played well.
Louis : I felt like I was in Brittany, given the conditions we had: the rain, the wind, the sun – I felt like I was in my own backyard, which was nice *laughs*.
Reserve or Château :
James : I’d say Reserve.
Louis : Completely different, I’d say both.
Shot of the day:
Louis : I hit a 20-metre putt with a huge left-right, it was windy so it was impressive.
Day 3 by Nicolas and Julien
One word to describe Julien :
Nicolas : As a patient partner, because given the level we’ve offered and the last three days, I’d say patient, and as a golfer, I’d say determined and serious, he doesn’t miss a thing.
One word to describe Nicolas:
Julien : Complementary.
Your strength:
Nicolas : Complementarity. A lot of trust and communication before playing, reading putts and implementing a strategy.
Julien : Complementary.
Shot of the day: Julien’s shot on 7, Par 5. With the wind at his back for 200 meters, he had a big attack on the drive and ended up behind the green on the descent. He ended up putting a wedge 1cm from the hole, incredible!
Julien : Complementary *laughs*
- Spain by finalists : Alvaro RIGAUD GALVEZ and Alfonso MARTINEZ SORIANO
1 word to describe La Réserve: Incredible and wonderful.
The feeling: It was my day at the Reserve today.
Do you prefer La Réserve or Château? Reserve for Alvaro and Château for Alfonso.
Shot of the day: Yesterday the shipping and today the last one. Viva España!
- Benin by finalists : Priska SAHIRY and Gustave TOUNDE GODONOU
1 word to describe Gustave: Energy, he’s bursting with energy, nothing discourages him.
1 word to describe Priska: Hyper-fighting, she won us a lot of points in the last two rounds.
Your strength: Precision and strength, he hits the drivers like a thunderbolt. Priska is very encouraging and a fireman laughs when I lose my balls.
Do you prefer Reserve or Château? Château, Château and Château again. As for Gustave, he prefers the Reserve because he hasn’t played it well and finds it more difficult, so he can’t wait to play it again.
- Togo by the country partner : Daniel BOHOUSSOU
Day 2 feedback: Personally, I was very frustrated. I attacked some Par 5s in 2 but couldn’t make any Pars because the green was so fast. Putting was a bit difficult for me today.
Do you prefer the Reserve or the Château? The Reserve.
1 word to describe the Reserve: Technical.
Shot of the day: Hole 9, I was in the rough in 2 on the drive and I chipped the ball straight in, landing less than 1 meter from the hole. I made birdie.
- Poland by the country partner : Klaudiusz SEVKOVIC
The feeling: Yesterday I played my best round in La Réserve, it’s my favourite course now.
Do you prefer La Réserve or Château? La Reserve is number 1 here in Mauritius.
1 word to describe La Réserve: Perfect.
Shot of the day: During the evening, the vodka shot.*rires*. I’m wainting for my hole-in-one, maybe next year.
- Italy by the finalist : Lorenzo FERRI
The feeling: These are two fun courses. The Reserve is more difficult but more challenging. The Château is easier to play, more immediate.
We played well on the course, had fun and had a great day’s golf.
- Belgium by the finalist : Morgan CREMER
The feeling: A very difficult course, we had it hard all the way and we’ll be back!
Reserve or Château? La Réserve, you go up to 1 and then down and down and it’s beautiful!
Shot of the day: I holed a 15-metre putt laughs no, it’s more the beer.
